Have you ever felt like you’re doing everything but still not seeing results? It’s frustrating, I get it. Yet, what I’ve learned is that progress isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s quiet, building momentum in the background: let’s call it stacking wins.
This year has started off really hectic for me. Between work, family obligations, and everything else life throws my way, it’s been one of those seasons where it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. I realized quickly that I wouldn’t conquer everything, but then it hit me that momentum includes taking the right actions now to build a foundation for future progress. When I started to reflect, I realized that while I didn’t have those big outcomes yet, I was quietly stacking wins:
Writing consistently, even when no one responded.
Reaching out to one new contact a week.
Dedicating 15 minutes daily to learning something new.
These actions felt small in the moment, but over time, they compounded. Each one added a layer of momentum, setting me up for bigger shifts down the line.
The truth is, stacking wins is a lot like laying bricks. Each brick feels insignificant on its own, but together they’re building something solid you can stand on later when it’s time to take bigger steps.
Stacking wins isn’t only about checking off individual tasks; it’s also about intentionally building momentum across different areas of your life. For example:
Relationships: Small gestures like sending a thoughtful message or scheduling a coffee chat build deeper connections over time.
Wellness: Stretching for 5 minutes a day or adding one healthy meal to your routine may seem minor, but they stack up.
Creativity: Writing one sentence a day might feel tiny, but it’s a win that nurtures your creative muscles.
When you build small wins in multiple areas, you’re giving yourself layers of strength to rely on when things get hard.
Lately, I’ve been tracking a few key behaviors to measure progress, even when results aren’t obvious yet:
Spanish Lessons: Am I dedicating time to learning Spanish? Progress often feels slow until one day it just clicks. Consistency is key.
Wellness Practices: Am I prioritizing my health alongside my goals? Actions like stretching or better sleep fuel my energy and focus.
Skill Growth: Am I actively improving my craft? Progress isn’t just about external wins; sharpening my skills is an internal win that pays off later.
Energy Management: Am I balancing action with rest? Overworking can stall momentum just as much as doing nothing.
I’m sharing this because I know what it’s like to wonder if what you’re doing is really making a difference. But trust me. Those “small” moves are stacking up, and one day you’ll look back and see just how much ground you’ve covered.
If you’re feeling stuck, try this:
Identify 3-4 small actions that align with your bigger goals.
Track them weekly, not obsessively but intentionally.
Celebrate those small wins, even when they seem insignificant.
Eventually, the results will be impossible to ignore.
With so much focus on stacking wins, I’ve been leaning into ways to help me stay balanced.
Things I’m Loving
This Lo-Fi playlist on Spotify. For the days I really need to lock in and get stuff done, it’s been perfect for those “I need to focus but also vibe” moments.
Things I’m Learning
Spanish Progress: With learning a new conjugation, it’s forced me to lean into giving myself a bit more grace. Some days I crush it, some days it’s a challenge. Yet, showing up is what matters most.
Things I’m Letting Go
Overcomplicating Things: I’m always balancing the concept of “done” vs. “perfect.” Sometimes keeping things simple is exactly what’s needed to stay consistent.
Momentum isn’t just about big moves, it’s built in the small wins that keep you grounded along the way. Keep stacking, keep going. it’s all adding up.
